Telling people that your funding organisation is not going to give them a grant is probably the worst single part of the job....So one of the golden rules of grantmaking is to say ‘no’ straight away, as soon as you know that a grantseeker is not likely to receive any money. Don’t beat around the bush and don’t obfuscate the reason for your decision.
